How to measure your baby

Height

For babies: lay them down and, while holding their legs straight, measure them from the top of their head to the bottom of their heel.

For toddlers: stand them upright against a measuring chart or a wall and measure from the top of their head to the floor.

It is a good idea to familiarise yourself with these sizes before your baby arrives. If they look a bit confusing, it is only because babies grow the most in their first year of life! And it can get tricky if your baby isn’t an average-sized bundle.
